Why Fly with Asiana Airlines

How to Check In

The passenger must present his or her valid passport and other necessary documents required for their specific destination (such as a visa, if needed). After verification, the passenger will get a boarding pass and a baggage tag for checked-in baggage. For domestic flights, check-in counters close 20 minutes before departure. For international flights, the general closing time of the check-in counter is 40 minutes before departure. However, for destinations in America, Beijing, and Istanbul, closing time is 60 minutes before departure.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

For flights with routes to the Americas, passengers are allowed up to two pieces of luggage that weigh no more than 32kg (for First/Business class) or 23kg (for travel class). Infants are allowed one piece of luggage plus a foldable stroller, cradle, or safety seat. As for non-America routes, checked-in baggage must not exceed 40kg for First class, 30kg for Business class, and 20kg for Travel class. Infants are entitled to 10kg baggage.

Inflight Food

Options for inflight meals are diverse, including western meals, and traditional Korean, Japanese, and Chinese dishes. Customised inflight meals are available, as well as pre-ordered Korean Royal Cuisine for first class passengers (but the meal must be requested at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure). Asiana Airlines offers wine carefully selected by top international sommeliers, custom-picked to mesh well with the food available. There are also various types of tea service and Rainforest Alliance-certified environment friendly coffee.

Airport Awards

Asiana Airlines has earned many achievements and awards since it was first established in 1988, most of which are linked with the airline's efforts in being an environmentally friendly company. The airline was acknowledged by the Ministry of Environment in 2001 for being the first environmentally friendly company within the service industry. In 2009, Asiana was given the honourable 'Airline of the Year' award by Air Transport World, while in 2010 it was recognised as the Best Airline in the World at the 2010 World Airline Awards.
