Flying with Jetstar Asia

Jetstar Asia is a subsidiary of Qantas that caters to low-cost flights in East and Southeast Asia, with connections to Australia. It's a sister company of New Zealand's Jetstar and other regional offshoots, such as Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam.

The airline was founded in 2004 and is based at Singapore Changi Airport. Jetstar Asia merged with fellow Singapore low-cost carrier Valuair and took over its flights in 2014.

Why Fly with Jetstar Asia

Jetstar Asia check in

Passengers can check in online from 24 hours to 1 hour before departure. Web check-in is available for individuals and groups of up to 10 passengers.

At the airport, check-in counters open 2 hours before and close 40 minutes before intra-Asia flights, or 60 minutes before long-haul flights. Roving check-in agents are employed at Singapore Changi Airport to help passengers check in during peak times.

You should be at the boarding gate at least 15 minutes before take-off.

Jetstar Asia baggage allowance and fees

Your baggage allowance depends on your fare class and bundle.

All passengers can carry 1 main item and 1 small item on board, weighing up to 7kg (for Economy Starter, Starter Plus and Starter Max fares), 10kg (FlexiBiz) or 14kg (Business Class).

Carry-on bags must be no larger than 56cm x 36cm x 23cm and the small item must fit under the seat. Infant strollers, bedding, high chairs and car seats may be taken on board free, as can wheelchairs.

Checked baggage allowances are 20kg for Economy Starter fares with Plus bundle or 30kg for Economy Starter fares with Max bundle and Business Class. No checked baggage is offered for Economy Starter or FlexiBiz fares.

Passengers on any fare can purchase up to a maximum of 40kg checked baggage at local rates.

Jetstar Asia seat selection

Seats may be selected in all fare classes, but only some are inclusive. Options include standard seats, extra legroom and upfront seats.

Seat selection is an optional extra on Starter fares. Starter Plus includes standard seat selection, FlexiBiz passengers can choose a standard or up front seat, while Starter Max includes all 3 seat options. Business Class passengers can choose any available seat in the business cabin. Local fees apply.
