Flying with Wizz Air

Wizz Air is one of Europe's leading low-cost airlines and the largest airline in Hungary. Its main hub is at Budapest Airport, but it also has 27 other bases throughout Europe.

Founded in 2003, Wizz Air has launched several regional subsidiaries over the years, which have since closed. Wizz Air UK is expected to take over its UK flights in late 2018.

Why fly with Wizz Air?

Wizz Air check in

You can check in for Wizz Air flights online, using the airline's mobile app or at the airport.

Online and mobile check-in are available from 48 hours to 3 hours before a flight. Airport check-in carries a ‎€30 fee per passenger, per flight. If mobile and web check-in are not available, this fee is waived.

Wizz Air baggage allowance and fees

All passengers can travel with 1 item of hand luggage and 1 small item such as a coat, blanket or reading material for free. This should weigh no more than 10kg and measure less than 55cm × 40cm × 23cm in total dimensions. Wizz Priority passengers are also permitted 1 small additional item, such as a laptop bag.

There is no checked baggage allowance on Wizz Air flights. Passengers can pay to check in up to 6 bags weighing up to 32kg each and measuring up to 149cm x 119cm x 171cm. This is cheaper when booked online in advance, compared to airport baggage fees.

Wizz Air seat selection

Seat selection is included with certain fare bundles. Wizz Go passengers can book standard seats for free, while Wizz Plus passengers can also choose front row and extra legroom seats. Other seats can be booked for a fee.

Seats that aren't selected will be assigned randomly during check-in. Passengers seated in extra legroom and front row seats must be at least 18 years of age and be able and willing to help in an emergency.
