Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi Airport, located in Racha Thewa in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, is one of the two international airports serving Bangkok, Thailand that is open to both domestic and international commercial flights. It is considered the main hub of various airlines in Thailand including Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, and Orient Thai Airlines. Suvarnabhumi Airport, also known as Bangkok International Airport, boasts having the fourth biggest airport terminal at 6,060,000 square feet, as well as the tallest free-standing control tower which stands at 434 feet. It is currently the busiest airport in Thailand, and the 16th busiest airport in the world.


Suvarnabhumi Airport has a main passenger building that can handle up to 76 flights per hour. It also has international and domestic terminals which have the capacity to accommodate 45 million passengers and three million tonnes of cargo per year. Travelling between terminals is possible through shuttle bus service which is available 24 hours to serve passengers within the airport. There are designated waiting areas for easy access to these shuttle rides. The airport features two parallel taxiways that can accommodate simultaneous departures and arrival. For domestic arrivals, passengers are instructed to proceed to Arrival Hall second floor (Exit A), while international arrivals should move to Arrival Hall second floor (Exit B and C) after finishing presenting their respective passports and immigration card at the Immigration Control Counter. Passengers departing for domestic destinations can wait for boarding at Concourses A and B on the fourth floor of the airport. On the other hand, passengers leaving for international flights are instructed to wait on the second floor of the airport, where the hold rooms are.

Passengers in the Suvarnabhumi Airport will find as many as 10 information service counters scattered throughout the airport to serve them with instructions and directions in going around the airport. A One Stop Service is also present to provide assistance to passengers with complaints, as well as give pertinent information through the call centre. Mobile phone service is offered within the airport in case passengers own mobile device run out of battery when they need to make phone calls. A smoking room on the second floor of the airport allows smokers to unwind, and prevents non-smokers from being bothered by second-hand smoke. There is a free Wi-Fi connection in the airport that allows passengers to access various websites while waiting for boarding. Passengers in need of a place in which to stay will have many options as several hotels stand in close proximity to the airport. Driving hide 

Travelling by private vehicle to the Suvarnabhumi Airport from Bangkok City proper can be a breeze by taking the Surawong road, and turning right to Sirat Expy route. The road will lead to Route 7, and visitors only have to take the exit toward the motorway, and straight ahead to the Suvarnabhumi Airport. Limousine car rentals are also an option for travellers who seek convenience in going to major landmarks within Bangkok, including Srinakarin, Bangrak, and Teparak among others. 

Trains hide 

Public transportation vehicles such as trains can be a means for speedy travel time to and from the Suvarnabhumi Airport. The airport has a rail link that connects Phaya Thai Station, and Makkasan Station, to the airport in less than half an hour. 

Buses hide 

Buses can take passengers to major landmarks including Pattaya, Rongklua Market, Nongkhai, and Chonburi via the Sukhumvit expressway, Leamchabang, or Nakhonratchasima. Tickets can be bought at the service of BorKhorSor passenger terminal. Another bus line passengers can ride is the BMTA bus which can take visitors from the Suvarnabhumi Airport to Happy Land, Samuthprakarn, Rangsit, and Samae Dam Garage. This bus line serves passengers as early as 4:00 a.m. until midnight. To those coming from Don Muaeng International Airport who wish to take a direct bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport, a free bus service can transfer between the two airports from 5:00 a.m. until midnight.

Taxis are easily available in the Platform of Passenger Terminal on the 1st Floor, Gates 4 and 7 of the Suvarnabhumi Airport. It serves passengers 24 hours with fares depending on the distance travelled.
