Lima Airport (LIM)

Lima Airport, known officially as Jorge Chavez International Airport, is by far the busiest airport in Peru. Found 11km from the nation's capital, Lima Airport is a hub for 7 airlines, including LATAM Peru and Peruvian Airlines.

The majority of Lima's flights are to destinations within South and Central America, although it's possible to get flights to the USA and to Europe from Jorge Chavez as well.

There's just 1 terminal at Lima Airport, making it easy for passengers to find the facilities they need.

In all, there are 17 places to get food and drink in the airport. This includes a mix of local and international businesses. There are also 19 shops, covering your need for books, clothing and souvenirs. If you want to relax before or after a flight, there's an express massage area and a spa service.

There are also 3 VIP lounges in the airport, offering comfortable waiting areas with buffet food, bar services and free Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi elsewhere in the terminal charges a fee to users.

 Getting to Lima city centre

Driving hide 

There are 3 international companies offering car hire at Lima Airport. All of these are found in the international arrivals section, while 2 also have a presence in the domestic arrivals hall. The drive into the city takes around 15 minutes. Cars in Peru drive on the right.

Buses hide 

Lima Airport has no public bus services, but you may find that your hotel offers a complimentary pick-up service.

Another option is the Airport Express shuttle. This service has 29 departures every day. A 1-way ticket costs US$8, while a return is US$15. These can be booked online, and tickets are valid on any day.

Taxi hide 

Taxi counters are found in the arrivals halls for domestic and international flights. These are the only licensed taxis operating from the airport, and it's advised that you use these rather than the unlicensed drivers who may approach you in the airport.

A taxi to Lima city centre is likely to cost the equivalent of NZ$25-NZ$30.
