Napier-Hastings Airport, known officially as Hawke's Bay Airport, is New Zealand's 7th busiest airport, and 2017 was its busiest year to date. It's 7km north of Napier and 22km north of Hastings. A 2nd air facility – Hastings Aerodrome – is also found in the area, although this currently has no commercial flights.

 Getting to Napier-Hastings city centre

Driving hide 

Car hire at Napier-Hastings Airport is available inside the terminal. Travellers have a choice of 6 companies here. The car park for rental vehicles is to the left once you leave the terminal.

The drive to Napier takes 10 minutes. Follow State Highway 2 south until you meet Thackeray Street, turning left to reach the city centre.

Hastings is a 25-minute drive. From State Highway 2, turn onto State Highway 50 and this will lead you straight there.

Buses hide 

There are no public bus services available from Napier-Hastings Airport, however there are 2 shuttle services present: Super Shuttle and Village Shuttle. These companies give fixed prices for trips to Napier, Hastings and other spots in the area.

Taxi hide 

Taxis are available from outside the terminal, from a number of different companies. A trip to Napier costs $25-$30, but takes much the same time as the bus. A trip to Hastings costs $65-$75, but is far quicker than a shuttle service.
