Queenstown Airport

Located in Frankton, Otago, New Zealand, Queenstown Airport serves the resort town of Queenstown. It is currently the fourth busiest airport in New Zealand and has handled 924,248 passengers for the year that ended on June 2011. Queenstown Airport houses various airlines like Air New Zealand, Air New Zealand Link, Glenorchy Air, Jetstar Airways, Qantas, and Virgin Australia, flying to different locations both domestic and international.


Queenstown Airport has a single terminal building with seven tarmac gates, located at the main concourse area. Gate 1 is to the left of the café where domestic arrivals and baggage area are located, while Gates 2 to 6 are located past the Security Screening Point on the left. The gates for the international departures are located beyond the same Security Screening Point.

Internet Lounge in Queenstown Airport has 16 computers and is located beside the international Arrivals area. The airport provides one hour free Wi-Fi anywhere in the Terminal for every four-hour period. The airport's currency exchange and ATMs have an entire range of travel money services including foreign cash in over 50 different currencies. There are also two Travelex Foreign Exchange ATMs that cater for international Eftpos, Debit and Credit Cards, and dispense NZ and Australian dollars. A Duty Free store is located in the departure gate directly after the Customs Counters. Also in the departure area are café and news agency kiosks. The airport offers services specifically-focused on the needs of disabled passengers like automatic door, ATM Braille keys, wheelchair-friendly car parking, and elevators. There are also parenting rooms, first aid room, bag storage & key drop, telephones, and sim cards in the baggage reclaim and check-in areas.  Getting to & from the Airport

Driving hide 

Driving to Queenstown Airport from the city centre, take State Highway 6A then take the 3rd exit to State Highway 6 before taking the 1st exit to Lucas PI. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Sir Henry Wigley Drive, Queenstown International Airport will be on the left side of the road.

Buses hide 

Connectabus links Queenstown airport to hotels, motels, and attractions in Queenstown, and operates every 15 minutes from the airport.

Taxi hide 

There are two taxi companies running from the airport to the city centre: Green Cabs, Queenstown's environmentally friendly taxi company and drives hybrid vehicles and eleven seater vans, and Queenstown taxis that service Queenstown and other destinations.
