The public and military airport that serves Zhuhai is Zhuhai Jinwan Airport. It began its operations in 1995. Formerly the Zhuhai Sanzao Airport, Zhuhai Jinwan Airport is located within Sanzao Town, in Jinwan District, 50 kilometres or 31 miles southwest of the city centre, and 25 kilometres or 16 miles southwest of Macau. The airport operates with a concrete-surfaced runway designated 5/23 that measures 4,120 metres or 13,517 feet in length, and hosts mainland China’s largest airshow, the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition. Over the years, Zhuhai Jinwan Airport has had approximately 44,000 aircraft operations and served around 2.1 million passengers.
The airport only has flights to local destinations within China including Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Liuzhou, Hangzhou, Sanya, Ningbo, Ganzhou, Fuzhou, and Wuhan, among others. The destinations can be reached with airlines such as Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Express Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hebei Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Okay Airways, Shandong Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Spring Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, West Air (China), and Xiamen Airlines.
Zhuhai, a prefecture-level city within Guangdong, China, is among the original Special Economic Zones that have been established in the 1980s. Zhuhai Jinwan Airport operates four airport express routes that connect the airport with the Zhuhai city centre. The airport express routes primarily serve major hotels and city lounges all throughout Xiangzhou, Gongbei, Jida, and Tangjiawan. The airport express routes from Zhuhai may also include connections to the stations of Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway (including Zhuhai Railway Station), Jiuzhou Port, as well as Gongbei Port.
