National Museum of Colombo
This is one of the two museums in the city and is the largest one in Sri Lanka. It houses great artefacts which are significant to the history if the country like the throne and crowned of the Kandyan monarchs.
The museum is about 35 kilometres away from the Bandaranaike Airport via the Colombo Katunayake Expy. It will only take 11-13 minutes if you are coming from Colombo city centre, via Darley Rd, Ananda, and Colombo-Batticaloa Hwy.
Colombo Zoo (National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka)
This is home to more than 3,000 animals which are cared for and conserved in the animal facility. The zoo envisions having a place where conservation and research for animals are highlighted.
Reaching the zoo could take a bit of time from the airport especially if there is traffic. It is estimated that driving to the zoo could take more than an hour. Coming from the city centre, driving to Colombo Zoo will just take about 30 minutes. Take Colombo Plan Rd, Galle Rd, or Colombo-Batticaloa Hwy.
