East Midlands Airport serves the East Midlands of England. The airport is a hub for Irish and British low-cost carriers like Ryanair and Jet2.com. If you have time to spare before departure, you can head to the East Midlands Aeropark. You can view exhibitions of static aircrafts and airplanes take off.

The East Midlands comprises of counties Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire. The regions is perhaps famed for food, from the scrumptious Lincolnshire sausage to the Melton Mowbray pork pie and Bakewell tart. A plethora of attractions like the historic Chatsworth House, Donnington Castle and family attractions like Gullivers World are scattered across the region.

The fastest way to the airport is via the train and bus services. If you are residing in Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Loughborough, Long Eaton, Leicester and Longborough, you can take a train to the East Midlands Parkway, the nearest railway station located to the airport.  There are also Skylink buses that connect you to the airport from these cities. If you are residing in Castle Donington (closest town to the airport) or Coalville you can take the Airlink 155 bus services.  Bus frequencies are every 20 minutes.

Less than an hour's flight from the East Midlands lies Dublin, Ireland's capital city. Must-visit sights in the city include the picturesque Aldborough House, Ardgillan Castle and Bedford Tower. Be sure to drop by Guinness Storehouse, one of the city's main draws. Visit Ireland's National Museum for a better comprehension of the city.
