Faleolo International Airport is a public airport located 40km west of Apia, the capital city of Samoa. It offers direct jet service to many major airports on the Pacific region, connecting Samoa to Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, USA, and beyond. Until 1984, the airport could only accommodate jets as large as a Boeing 737. Jets as large as Boeing 747, commonly used to service long haul destinations like the US West Coast, Australia, or New Zealand, lands at the nearby airport, the Pago Pago International Airport, located in the village of Tafuna in American Samoa. Since the airport's expansion, Faleolo International Airport now serves most international traffic while Pago Pago International Airport only services flights to Honolulu.

How to get there

Apia is the capital city of Samoa and is approximately 20 miles from Faleolo International Airport where you will probably land if you wish to visit the city. Travelling from the airport to the city centre is easy. Right outside the terminal are a stream of taxis that could get you to your destination. Entering the city by boat, you will have to board occasional cargo ships that dock at Apia port on their way around the world. Twice a month, there is a ferry that sails to Tokelay, and Yachts can dock at the Apia Harbour.
