“Aeroport Nantes Atlantique” is the name of Nantes Airport in French. This airport is located about 8km from the heart of Nantes, in Bouguenais town. This relatively large French airport handles millions of passengers each year. Originally used for military purposes in the early 20th century, the airfield of this airport was used as a British Royal Air Force airbase for a short while during the historic event, World War II.
The airport has one terminal. There, travellers can find information booths where their queries and concerns can be addressed. There are bars and restaurants to satisfy hunger pangs. Boutiques and stores are available for travellers to get their hands on souvenirs and duty free goods. Also available are business facilities designed to facilitate the holding of conferences and meetings in the airport. Interested travellers can choose from a variety of rooms installed with projectors and paperboards to provide a productive and conducive work environment.
There are about five different ways for travellers to commute to and from the airport. Taxi services can be found just opposite Hall 1 and at Hall 4. There is also a shuttle service provided by the Nantes Area Transport Company that connects the airport to the city in just 20 minutes! Once you are on board the shuttle, pick from 3 different stops to arrive to your desired destination. The public bus 37 picks up passengers from outside the main terminal. Passengers can alight at the La Neustrie stop and continue taking the tram to the city centre. Private transport options include hiring a car. Travellers can rent a car from the airport’s car rental service Europcar. Just remember to take into account the toll fares if you are a cost-conscious traveller! As for private transfers, Holiday Taxis is a company that provides services that transfer passengers to their destination via taxi, minibus, shuttle, coach and limousine. Do make the necessary arrangements with this company if you would prefer such a service. Once in the city, transport is easy and convenient with trams, buses, bicycles and tourist buses that take you to the tourist attractions and landmarks of Nantes.
