Arriving in Rarotonga

Rarotonga Airport (RAR) is the main airport of the Cook Islands, though it's small by international standards. Its single terminal was revamped and reopened in 2010 to handle more flights and modernise its facilities.

The airport has 5 cafes serving hot drinks and light meals, as well as convenience stores and an ATM dispensing New Zealand dollars.

Rarotonga Airport is 3km from the city. The public bus passes by the airport every 30 minutes and costs $5 (plus $2 for each large bag). You can also take a taxi ($10-$40) or hire a car at the airport.
