Tampa International Airport is a public airport owned by Hillsborough County Aviation Authority and operated by the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. It serves the city of Tampa in Florida, and is exactly located about six miles away from downtown Tampa. It has been praised for its architecture and landside/airside design which connects a central terminal (landside) by people movers to satellite gates (airsides). This was then a pioneering concept during its inception in the late 1960s. The airport was also known as the Drew Field Municipal Airport back then.

Tampa International Airport is a hub for Silver Airways and a focus city for Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines has the largest share of passengers from the airport, operating a peak season schedule of over 110 daily flights. The airport presently serves 80 non-stop destinations, including international services to the Bahamas, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Panama, and to other destinations across the Caribbean. As of the latest numbers, it handled 17.5 million passengers in 2014, making it the 31st busiest airport by passenger movements in North America.
