Havana is absolutely incredible. I recommend you avoid the government-owned restaurants and attractions. They are so much engaging (and yummy) than the family owned shops and restaurants. Stay in an Airbnb and engage with the locals! Bring some toiletries, i.e. toothpaste, deodorant, ben gay, yep you read that right, so you can give it to individuals or an institution that will insure it goes to the right people! Enjoy and GO TO CUBA!!

Havana is my favorite city of all time, and I’ve been to almost 20 countries. It’s extremely (extremely) affordable, and the people are so beautiful & kind. You can find good music anywhere, make lasting friends, and attempt to understand a totally different culture. One of the best parts (as a tourist) is the lack of internet. Don’t expect to have WiFi anywhere. I highly recommend a trip with one or two friends who are ready to have an adventure and meet the completely unique city of La Havana (you should speak Spanish to some extent!!)

Cuba is fun if you are one who can completely disconnect. If not i wouldn’t recommend because it feels like you are going back to 1950s. Cars are preserved, no Uber or lyft. I also do not recommend for solo travel for women. Overall though it’s a beautiful place.
