Departing from Auckland
Auckland Airport (AKL) is New Zealand's largest and busiest airport. It's located 21km or a 20-minute drive from Auckland city centre and served 24 hours a day by buses and taxis. It's recommended that you get to the airport at least 3 hours before international flights.
Flights to Gold Coast leave from the International Terminal. This is in a separate building to the Domestic Terminal, connected by a walkway and shuttle bus. Check-in is on the ground floor before proceeding upstairs for security and departures.
You'll find a wide selection of shops, dining options and other facilities at the airport, both before and after security. These include ATMs and currency exchange, duty-free stores and parenting facilities.
Arriving in Gold Coast
Gold Coast Airport (OOL), formerly known as Coolangatta Airport, is 25km south of Surfers Paradise and 100km from Brisbane. All flights arrive and depart from the same terminal.
After you disembark your flight, follow the signs to the baggage carousels on the ground floor. When you've passed through customs, you can use the ATMs, exchange currency or grab a bite to eat before heading to ground transport.
Buses and taxis leave from outside the terminal to nearby towns and cities. Taxis charge a flat rate of AU$65 to Surfers Paradise, while buses cost around AU$10 when you buy a go explore card. If you prefer to drive, you can hire a car at Gold Coast Airport from international agencies.

If you're staying in Surfers Paradise or the surrounding region, Gold Coast Airport is the closest airport. If you're closer to Brisbane, you could also try the larger Brisbane Airport (BNE).
