Christchurch Airport (CHC) is New Zealand's 2nd busiest airport after Auckland International. It's 11km from the CBD.
The cheapest way to get to the airport is to take the number 29 bus. This costs NZ$8 1-way or NZ$14 return, and takes about half an hour. A shared shuttle bus is likely to cost NZ$25 or more, but has the advantage of picking you up from your accommodation.
Once you get to the airport, the check-in counters are on the ground floor. The departure gates are upstairs and to the right for international flights, but be sure to check out the food court and shops at the top of the escalator before you go through security.
