Transportation to City Centre
Most travellers to Rarotonga stay in the beach resorts around Aroa and Muri. Shuttle services provide transfers to these hotels, with the price depending on the distance and whether you want a private or shared vehicle. A taxi to these areas is likely to cost around NZ$40. Car hire is also available at Rarotonga Airport.

Passport and identification requirements – New Zealand citizens can fly to the Cook Islands without a visa, so long as their intended stay is no more than 31 days.
Arriving in time to check-in – For international flights, it's recommended to arrive at Wellington Airport at least three hours before your flight is meant to leave.
Time difference between Wellington and Rarotonga – There aren't many places with a bigger time difference than New Zealand and the Cook Islands. Rarotonga is 22 hours behind Wellington in the winter and 23 hours behind in the summer.
Weather – Rarotonga is by far the warmer location, which is a big part of its attraction. Be aware that during the New Zealand summer, Rarotonga often experiences heavy rainfall.
