Located to the southeast of Germany’ capital Berlin, Berlin Schonefeld Airport is the smaller of two airports located in the city, the other being the Berlin Tegel Airport. It used to be the major civil airport of East Germany and the only one servicing East Berlin. In 2017, the airport is expected to be merged to Berlin Brandenburg Airport which is currently being constructed. Berlin Schonefeld Airport has three terminals which served almost seven million passengers in 2013.
