How to get around within Maine

When getting around the U.S. state of Maine by car, note that are only few public roads in the area north and west of Bangor. Most of the roads here are maintained by private land owners, and a permit may be required for access. Public transport within Maine is provided by bus companies including Greyhound Lines (runs between Boston South Station and Bangor, passing through Portland, Brunswick, Lewiston, Augusta, and Waterville), Concord Trailways (runs between Boston South Station or Logan Airport and Bangor, passing through Portland), and Cyr Bus Lines (connects Bangor with Aroostook, passing through Old Town, Orono, Houlton, Mars Hill, Presque Isle, Caribou, and Limestone). Concord Trailways also have a local coastal service going to Portland, Brunswick, bath, Wiscasset, Waldoboro, Rockland, Camden, and Belfast. For travelling within New England, there are also campervan rentals available.
