Going down hill very fast
I have been travelling for business to the Mount annually for a very long time. I have always chosen to stay at the Commodore for every one of those years bar one and then returned to the Commodore. But, this will be the last time I stay there. The room was clean but very noisy. The bathroom very cramped with no space to put anything. There were issues with the TV not changing channel or menus It took 4 different staff members to eventually sort it out. The lack of trouble shooting training was outstanding. There were 2 of us in the room but only 1 mug, 1 small cup, 1 plate, only 1 face washer. I do NOT want to use a washer that has been used by another no matter what.
Dinner: The service was very good however that's where the praise ends.
The meal was well below acceptable. Meal 1: Entree - SA SQUID
Szechuan pepper / kimchi sauce / pickled ginger - very good $27.00. Main - 36° SOUTH 250G TENDERLOIN
Marble score 2+ Eye Fillet (MR) with Red Wine Jus. Hassel back potato, grilled broccolini - below average $56.00
Potato tasted like rubber. It appeared to have been cooked maybe the day before and reheated to serve. Not crusted just rubbery
Meal 2: Entree - LOBSTER RAVIOLO
Seafood bisque / sundried tomato / chilli crisp - $35.00 - in editable The sauce was burnt and the pasta was so tough you struggled to cut it with a knife. Sent back to kitchen disgusting. Main - 36° SOUTH 250G TENDERLOIN
Marble score 2+ (MR) served with Pepper sauce - Hassel back potato, grilled broccolini - poor $56.00 my steak was over cooked and very dry Hassel back potato same as above. But by this time I was so hungry I ate it anyways.
Nice bottle of Henske wine to wash it down. The waiter did remove my entree charge from the bill. My point is that this establishment is not a cheap alternative and the restaurant charges top $$ for food and wine.
Breakfast was also very poor. We had it delivered to the room. OJ, Poached eggs on sourdough with bacon and mushroom - eggs like rubber stress balls and both mushrooms and bacon heavily over salted. $31.00 total bill $325.82

Hello 843Rozw,
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at THE COMMODORE. We always welcome feedback and the opportunity to resolve any issues that might arise. Unfortunately, during this stay, we sadly didn't meet your expectations or achieve adequate resolutions, although the teams tried.
Our teams have already been discussing your stay, including the interactions involving the issues, and the verbal feedback provided on the room and your restaurant experience prior to receiving your review. The TV issue isn't something that is encountered often at all, so it has provided the opportunity for our new members on the team to gain a deeper insight into this. We agree that training is important for all of the team. We've also addressed the crockery for the rooms without the housekeeping team, we don't like sharing facewashers, either and we're sorry we couldn't resolve this by providing extras for you.
We would love the opportunity to welcome you again for a better experience. Our team can assist with booking a room that is less noisy and with a larger bathroom. Our Grand King rooms would be our first choice for a more comfortable and positive experience.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

Room was large and clean. Having the restaurant and bar was very helpful as we were there only one night. Restaurant was fantastic. We left an item in the room and the staff were helpful in getting it returned.

We stayed in an Executive Spa Superior room. Fantastic. Jetted tub was enormous. Room was actually 2 rooms. Lounge and kitchen then bedroom and huge bathroom. Everything was included. Stayed 2nights but would have liked more. Also location excellent. Walking distance to Maccas and the main shopping area. Staff were also great.
