A peaceful, beautiful idyll.

Baba Dool is an idyllic space, traditionally built, and with stunning aspects from the water’s edge, offering unrestricted views over one of the prettiest parts of the Nile, across to the desert banks beyond. We watched birds fishing in the Nile waters, and feluccas and motor boats gliding past.
Baba Dool is owned and run by Rauya, an inspiring and locally respected businesswoman. She was an attentive host and arranged transport quickly and efficiently on request.
The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the air conditioning works well. Abdul provides practical support, so we were always able to get help with directions and other requests. But the main thing is the peace and tranquility of being on an island, far from the bustle of the Aswan mainland.
Restaurants and cafes are within walking distance and a public ferry, used by locals as well as tourists, will take you to town and back , day and night.

Tour Visit for the "Nubian Village Experience"

We have stopped here as part of our "Nubian Village" experience while cruising up the Nile river.
We were provided some bread and "filo dough" and molasses/halva/spicy sauce + hot mint tea or cold hibiscus tea - I thought it was a pleasant visit and the atmosphere inside the house (and now I learn a hotel) was very lively. Others were smoking hookah/shisha, while others were taking pictures with small crocodile LOL
This is located on the coast of the Nubian village - I had different expectations about what a village like this would look like but all in all this was as "genuine food" as we got to try first hand in 7 days around Egypt so I liked it!

Great accommodation by the Nile

Excellent time at this friendly place. Laura was incredibly helpful with organising local experiences, as well as ferry transport to the West Bank. Room was clean and service friendly and generous; location was amazing as well (breakfast right by the Nile!).

Idyllic location, fantastic host and wonderful cultural experience

What a fabulous place right on the river nile where you can sit and watch the world go by in a relaxed, unhassled environment or go for a swim.
Baba dool was the first Nubian guest house on elephantine island and provides a truly authentic experience.
The owner is an extremely capable and welcoming lady and organised everything we asked for very reasonable prices.
Baba dool is easy to get to on the local ferry (LE 15) and then a short walk, it is very safe and friendly day and night. Our host sent a boat making it even easier.
The food is good and rooms excellent. We booked 3 nights, then decided to stay another night as it was so good and easy access to Aswan and attractions. We moved room and this room was even nicer. All had fabulous nile views and ensuite, were clean with nice sheets and towels. Also fan and A/C, not needed though in February.
Would definitely recommend staying here when in Aswan for a relaxing Nubian experience with easy access to main attractions which the host is happy to organise if you want her to.
