Good boutique hotel near the Nice train station
I ended up staying at Hotel 66 unexpectedly after my train was cancelled due to electrical issues affecting Nice-Ville station. Since I suddenly needed somewhere to spend the night, I looked for a hotel within walking distance of the station. Hotel 66 stood out thanks to its good reviews and convenient location.
My first instinct was to book directly with the hotel, but Agoda's rate was considerably cheaper. I asked whether they could match the price, but as they couldn't, I made the reservation through Agoda instead.
Check-in was straightforward. The receptionist who welcomed me wasn't particularly warm. One thing worth noting is that the reception is located a few steps above the entrance. Thankfully, there is a small lift available for guests with large suitcases or have mobility issues.
The elevator leading to the rooms is quite compact and can get busy sometimes. The corridors' lighting rely on motion sensors, so they are completely dark when you first step out of the lift. The lights take a few seconds to come on, and occasionally they didn't detect movement straight away, making the walk to the room slightly awkward.
The Junior Suite was pleasantly spacious and overlooked the quiet street below. The bathroom, however, felt surprisingly narrow in comparison. There was also a small sitting area, but the upholstery wasn't particularly inviting, so I never really used it. My biggest disappointment was the absence of a minibar or mini fridge. For a room marketed as a Junior Suite, I would have expected one.
The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bed and pillows were perfectly comfortable, and despite being so close to the train station, the soundproofing was excellent. I enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep and never heard any outside noise.
Unfortunately, due to a mix-up with Agoda, my booking did not include breakfast. After seeing the breakfast room the next morning, I didn't feel I had missed too much. The selection appeared fairly limited, and the dining area itself was very small.
One feature I genuinely appreciated was the large ice machine available downstairs. As someone who enjoys ice-cold water, especially during the Riviera summer, this was an unexpected but very welcome amenity.
Checkout was the complete opposite of my arrival. The Italian gentleman at reception was genuinely friendly and engaging, and the process was quick and efficient. My bill was accurate, and I was on my way within minutes.
Overall, Hotel 66 turned an unexpected travel disruption into a comfortable overnight stay. Its biggest strengths are its location, quiet rooms, and easy checkout. While a few details could be improved, particularly for the Junior Suite, I would still happily recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel close to Nice-Ville station.

Excellent - a brilliant city find
Stayed for 5 nights - this is a really good, easy, well-located, modern hotel with very friendly, professional and accommodating staff.
It is situated right near the tram stops, and just a few minutes from the main train station to take you to directly to many surrounding cities and towns (we went from there to Cannes, Antibes, Eze, Monaco, Menton and into Italy). The beach and the Old Town are within walking distance, or a short tram ride. There are a range of shops around the corner. And although the area has a buzz, the double glazed windows shut out the street sounds for a perfect night's sleep. I didn't need it, but my friend in another room said the air-con worked well too.
Talking of sleep, the mattress was perfect for me, and the bedlinen lovely.
The breakfast is wide-ranging to suit all palettes, plentiful and excellent quality.
This is among the best of the 15+ reasonably priced hotels I've stayed in over the past year in five countries. Great value for money for a city hotel.

A ZERO STAR hotel.
Booked by Booking.com with the intention of traveling 5 days later, I had a health problem and could not travel! The Hotel never showed its face, never really cared and wanted to keep a reservation money for services not provided! Consumers have rights and although Booking.com is a mediocre intermediary platform, it was really very easy and in their hands to accept a cancellation, I made more than 5 requests, come the day, they simply told me we can not cancel the reservation or make changes by internal policies of this hotel, which claims to be 4 stars when it has ZERO Customer Service. I do not recommend it there are dozens of better options and insurance with better treatment to your guests.

The hotel staff are very polite. The hotel provides free coffee or tea every day.
The only pity is that there is no independent electric kettle in the room.
Every time you want to drink hot water, you have to go downstairs to the breakfast area to get it.
In addition, the room is very clean, tidy, and spacious. The water in the shower and wash basin is very weak, so it may take more time to take a shower.
The hotel is very close to the train station, with many restaurants downstairs, very convenient, and good security, but you still need to remain vigilant.
Finally, this hotel is worth recommending.
