Berlin weekend

We stayed in the pension from 6/10 to 9/10. Very clean place, huge room, the bathroom was shared but only with one room (several bathrooms). Breakfast was included which was nice even if I would have liked to have eggs in the morning too. The person who took care of us was very friendly and helpful. The only problem, but it's not the pension's fault, is that it took 30 minutes by metro to get to the pension from the center. We had free access to the pension with all the keys to access it. Very good stay, I have fond memories of it. Oh yes, from the airport there is the S9 line which takes you directly to the escorted pension, although it takes a 1:15 journey.

Excellent place for rest and visit Berlin

If you like old-fashioned buildings with high ceiling then you'd love this hotel. Clean bathroom, clean rooms with comfortable beds, pillows, light and warm blankets. Here you can get acquainted with a lovely manager who perfectly speaks English and cooks :) In this hotel you won't hear your neighbors as they respect comfort. Here you can taste authentic German breakfast. 400 meters to U-Bahn/Bus stop, 700 meters to S-Bahn.

An old flat with a tiny shared bathroom in the dark no wifi no landline no reception

I had a very bad experience in April 2019.
It is an old flat with a tiny shared bathroom in the dark no wifi no landline no reception.
There is a hide fee not mentioned on the site, 50% cancellation fee 3 weeks ahead she told me. Then she complained me why you contacted booking.com.
It is an old flat without a reception, She is only there a few hours a day she told me, the terrible thing was there was no office phone so I waited outside the 3 doors on the street for a while till someone passed and I got in and found here, there is no internet, need a key to use the tiny lift,
She told me to hold the keys all the time, don't break the keys, she said, witch the lights off, it is like someone you read in a book. So at night it was so scary, the old building door outside made loud noise, the old floor makes squeaky noise, it was dark and it wasn't easy to open 3 doors for the locks problems in the dark.

Wonderful! Charming!

I am still here so I am not sure this is wise, but I honestly I have seen enough.
I have traveled to more than 100 countries and visited hundreds of hotel, big and small. Some of them just got it. Some just don't. It's not luxury and fancy decor that makes the difference. It's the homely ambiance and sense of convenience than no expensive chain out there can offer.
This place got it all. And it all starts with the charming lady that runs it. She is literally the soul of this place and does everything in her power to make people feel welcome. Upon arriving, her smiling face and refined manners will immidiately enslave you. Plus a good sense of humor
If you like a good talk, the hostess is a good conversationalist and that goes for English as well. In the morning we had a history lesson about my country, to find out I am the first person from Cyprus visiting her pension.. Ever!
I would come back here every single time, for business or pleasure. The place is very well located, the breakfast is just what it should be, a metro station is just around the corner and Sibylle makes sure you feel like home.
P.S. A downside for some is the shared bathroom facility (which is btw shining clean!). But think about it. Unless you are living solo, isn't it like that at home too?
