Beautiful view, but we did not sleep
Casa di Sandra is very pretty, a beautiful pink red with its garden. Sandra, Barbara and Betti keep the house clean and tidy. The decoration is very sober. It is located in the heart of the village of Torbole, north of Lake Garda, in Trentino. The place is perfectly adapted if you want a sports holiday. Right next door you have all the shops to buy or rent equipment for kitesurfing, windsurfing, windsurfing, foil, mountain biking and hiking. There is a beach 100 meters from the house, but it is crowded in summer. The beach is made of pebbles and I recommend having shoes to walk in the water; moreover, you only have to walk for the first 10 meters (watch out for the children!).
The village has all amenities: supermarket, baker, ice cream shops, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, are 200 meters max. However, access is in a small alley where it is impossible to park just in front. Private parking is 800 meters away, it takes 10 minutes walking along the lake to reach it. However, it is possible to park very quickly next to Casa di Sandra just enough time to load and unload the car. We found this impractical. Our host was present to welcome us and accompany us in this constraint. For the time of the checkout, she asked us to vacate the room at 9am, so you have to allow enough time to get down all the luggage on the 2nd floor without elevator, pick up the car and load the trunk to be on time.
Mood near Casa di Sandra is very lively all day and evening. We stayed in August, when it was very hot. The room was not equipped with air conditioning or fan, so we had to leave the windows open to try to get some fresh air. In these conditions, it is impossible to sleep with noise in the streets until very late in the evening (or even very early in the morning). Young people started screaming in their lungs between 1am and 3am, or honking with their scooters right under our window, they should think they were playing football... And so, four nights in a row. This lack of sleep ruined our vacation.
Sandra does not offer breakfast Service in the house, however it is possible to receive breakfast at the Wind’s bar next to the house for an extra 13 euros per person per day. This snack includes a hot drink, bread + ham + cheese toast for one formula, or hot drink + pancakes + fruit for another formula. We found the formulas too expensive and incomplete, and we preferred to buy our breakfast at the supermarket for the following mornings. Casa di Sandra has a common dining room with a kitchen, fridge and all the dishes but only available in the morning until 12 noon (it is forbidden to cook there). It is also forbidden to eat on the galleries in front of the room.
The bedroom on the second floor is equipped with two beds of 90 adjoining, a wooden safe, a bedside table, an armchair, a table, two chairs, a closet with wardrobe and 4 drawers, a TV, a bathroom with shower, sink, toilet and bidet. The size of the room is correct, however it lacks air conditioning or otherwise a fan. Garbage bags are not provided. Towels are changed every morning (during breakfast). Good quality Wifi access is also available.
Finally, we enjoyed the “Prato al Lago” in the direct vicinity of the beach. A true extension of the villa, it is in the form of a private and secure meadow where olive trees grow. This is also where we were able to park our car throughout the stay. This space was very useful because the pebble beach is really too crowded and uncomfortable if you only have one beach towel to linger on. This meadow is very pleasant: green and soft lawn, shade brought by the many olive trees. Picnic tables and toilets are available but be careful, provide toilet paper and garbage bag as these are not provided.
Finally, mastering Italian or German is a real plus: neither Sandra nor the ladies who assist her (Betti, Barbara) speak French and very little English. Moreover, the vast majority of tourists who frequent the area are German, all the inscriptions on public signs are in Italian, English and German but not in French.
So in short, our general feeling about this stay is mixed: we liked the village, the scenery, the Mood very surf and cool, the house is nice, but we missed the presence of the guests, we would have preferred to book a room in an air-conditioned hotel or a homestay away from the surfing, with a little relational with the hosts. Above all, the Price quality ratio is not there. For the price we paid, we could have had an extra Breakfast Service.
