We are a family of five who stayed there during our visit to Merida. On the positive side the placement is very nice in the old city. It felt safe. The area is very walkable and has lots of shops and restaurants.
However, the standard of the room is very bare, to the point where our room did not even have a chair or a nightstand.
The bathroom was very old and shabby. To be honest, not very nice. It was not very clean neither.

Hotel in the middle of el Centro, blocks off the Plaza on St Lucia Park. Would have been a great stay except for one huge problem. The hotel is next to a club that blares music from 9pm till 2:30am. This noise permeates the hotel rooms, making it impossible to sleep. Kavia is big enough to constrain the club or sound proof the walls between them. I have stayed in places with music in the hotel or near by but this was the worst. Staff was great, it's clean. But it was not enough to overcome the noise.

Bad experience

Lousy service, we made our reservation and notified at that same time that we arrived early between 1 and 2 am as by the time we did not want to be battling. On arrival at the hotel the receptionist was watching a movie and was totally distracted, he did not listen and asked us what room we had when we had already mentioned that we were checking in. When he finally understood that we were a new arrival he didn't know about our reservation, he mentioned three different reservations before finding ours and his pretext was "it's past midnight and the reservations are cut off, my colleague in the afternoon didn't pass me the information, I didn't know anything and I don't have a room" after this he told us that he was going to find us another hotel and that he was going to try to get us to respect the rate or something close as if we had been wrong. At this point he dared to tell us "I was calling you, I dialed you 5 times and you didn't answer me" when he didn't even know about our reservation when we arrived. After having to wait for him to call several hotels he got us a hotel, took us walking to the corner and from there he told us "it's over there about a block and he told us the name of the new hotel" we are two women in a place we don't know, spending 2 in the morning and left us there instead of walking with us that missing block knowing everything that had happened. When we arrived at the new hotel we were charged more than we had booked (it was not much the difference in price but the hotel is horrible) we arrived at the hotel room where we were sent and had a half used shampoo boat, the beds are hard and it is nothing like what we had booked. We prepared our reservation as we wanted to arrive after a long day just to rest at a nice hotel with the touch of Merida and instead we ended an hour trying to find a place to spend the night not even knowing what to do and ended up staying in a place that was nowhere near what we expected
