Peace & Tranquility
Location is a bit remote for me traveling solo but quiet and peaceful for those seeking such. Front desk staff were amazing. Florence & Josefina were there for every question or even worry I had and offered many recommendations and advice, all of which I took them up on!
Had a penthouse suite for which I thoroughly enjoyed morning dips in my rooftop pool and also the gym & lap pool on a daily basis! Highly recommend!!

The location is terrible. It’s a cheap hotel, I kind of fell for the pictures, but there’s so many better options in Tulum. I’m handicap, quad paralyzed, they advertised as step free entrance, that is a complete lie. There’s no handicap rent from the street/parking , and a very very steep ramp to get in the front door. The person at the desk could care less for the handicap. Overall, terrible place. Go elsewhere.

Irie Tulum does have a step-free entrance from the street/parking area via a ramp, and the building is designed to provide accessible routes throughout the property. Like many buildings in Tulum, the property is constructed at an elevated level due to the region’s heavy rainy season and the need for flood protection. As a result, the entrance ramp does have a noticeable incline, and we understand that this may be more difficult for guests with certain mobility limitations.
We take accessibility seriously, and we are particularly concerned to hear that you felt the assistance provided by our front desk was inadequate. Every guest should feel welcomed and supported, and we will address this feedback with our team.
We do, however, want to clarify that describing our step-free entrance as a “complete lie” is inaccurate. There is a ramp providing step-free access to the building; nevertheless, we recognize that the incline may not be suitable or comfortable for every wheelchair user, particularly someone with significant mobility limitations. We will review how we describe the entrance so future guests can better understand the specific accessibility conditions before booking.

engagement ring stolen and no pool - receptionists kind though
Somewhat disappointed – ENGAGEMENT RING STOLEN!!
I am writing this review with disappointment after our 9-night stay at the Irie Hotel. We booked one of their penthouses for a group of 6, expecting the experience shown in the listing photos. Unfortunately, it was a bit misleading.
The upstairs balcony and private penthouse pool were significantly smaller than advertised — the pool was basically a small plunge pool that could barely fit 2–3 people.
Even more unfortunate, the hotel’s main pool was completely empty and under construction the entire 9 days we were there. Upon arrival on our first day, the owner advised us that it would be ready the next day, but it never was. We had no access to a proper swimming pool at all. Despite this major inconvenience, management offered zero apology, explanation, or compensation.
The most unacceptable issue was the theft of my friend’s engagement ring by a maid. This was a highly sentimental and valuable item. When we reported it to reception, the staff showed almost no sympathy or urgency. There was no real investigation, no follow-up, and no assurance that the responsible maid would be held accountable. We felt completely dismissed and unsupported.
To make matters worse, the bar prices were ridiculously high and we were overcharged on our bill. We believe the hotel should have at least waived some charges or offered compensation for the unusable main pool and the stolen engagement ring — but nothing was done.
Despite this, all 3 receptionists were so lovely and helpful and recommended a lot of lovely restaurants and activities for us to do, I would give them 5 stars alone for being so friendly and helpful!
The hotel’s location is reasonably convenient, although it is not within walking distance to the beach.
Despite the engagement ring being stolen and us losing all trust in the maids and the hotel, I will say the cleaning service itself was good.

Regarding the missing ring, this matter was discussed with management during your stay. At that time, we were informed that it may have been misplaced and that it was possible someone had taken it. We were also advised that the item was costume jewelry rather than an engagement ring. Nevertheless, we took the matter seriously, immediately spoke with our housekeeping staff, and followed our standard procedures to investigate the situation. No evidence was found to support the allegation that a member of our team had taken the item. We understand the distress caused by a missing personal belonging and regret that it was never located.
With respect to the main pool, an unexpected maintenance emergency required extensive repairs to the bottom of the pool. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. However, we would like to clarify that we did not guarantee the pool would be available the following day. Throughout your stay, we communicated openly about the repair process, and as you witnessed, our team worked diligently each day to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
We are sorry that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Our goal is always to provide a positive experience for our guests, and while unforeseen circumstances occasionally arise, we strive to address them promptly and professionally.
