Excellent Riad in a busy part of the Medina

We stayed in both Riad Della Santa and Riad Contessa, which are both owned by the same people.
Both are excellent, the staff of both were very friendly and could do enough for you. They arranged a car to and from the airport that was efficient and reasonable (€20). When got to the nearest point to Riad Della Santa that a vehicle can get Asmaa, from the hotel, was there to meet us and guide us through the Medina. It was all very simple and straight forward, no hassles.
When we arrived at the airport our meeting point was the Club Med desk. It is worth knowing that that is actually outside so just follow the exit signs and once outside there will be lots of drivers holding signs for their hotels. Just look out for the once with Riad Della Santa sign.
We changed Raids after three nights, only because the Della Santa didn’t have room for the week but it gave us a chance to contrast the two.
Both were calm and relaxing once inside with an excellent breakfast. The only excursion we took was to Imlil, a small mountain village popular with walkers. The hotel arranged a car for 1000MAD. It was supposed to take 1.5 hours but due to recent bad weather the mountain roads were slow with new landslides etc.
If we had to choose between the two Riads we would return to the Contessa, purely based on location. Della Santa is in a busy pat of the Medina, when you walk out of the front you are straight into a very busy alley and the assault on the senses that is Marrakesh. The Contessa is in a quieter part of the Medina and then down a quiet alley so you do feel more remote from the madness.
To eat, especially if you want wine with your meal, we found Cafe Arab to be the best near the Della Santa (local and excellent Italian food) but near Contessa there is a gem. Turn left when you get on the street and must a few metres on the left is an unassuming entrance with a blackboard outside that says ‘Flowers’. Down that alley is Dar Marjana, an amazing candle lit restaurant with a nightly show of local musicians and a belly dancer. We had passed the alley many times and not really noticed it until our last night. If we had found it sooner we would have returned many times!
We were there the first week of January 2026 and we had mixed weather so we were glad to have taken light rain coats.
When your senses are completely blown by the Medina a good antidote is to seek out the new town of Guéliz. This is where the more upmarket, European, shops can be found and a Carrefour supermarket. On the main junction is an excellent French cafe, La Môme, that would not be out of place in an upmarket part of Nice or Lyon. Great cakes and lunches and a perfect place to relax and watch the world go by. It is not too far from Contessa but you have cross the busy road that encircles the Medina. Crossing the road can be more scary than doing it in France or Italy but remember the million scooters whizzing past you are watching you and once make a decision to cross stick with it and the scooters, cars, trucks will avoid you. If in doubt wait for a local to come by and follow them.

Best Riad in Marrakech

Absolutely Exceptional Stay at Riad Dalla Santa
From the moment we arrived, Aziz and his team made us feel less like guests and more like family.
The riad itself is beautiful, peaceful, and immaculately maintained. Our room was spotless every single day, with incredible attention to detail throughout our stay. One of my favourite touches was the soft spa music gently playing throughout the riad, creating the most relaxing atmosphere from morning until night.
The breakfasts deserve a special mention. Every morning was a surprise, with something different freshly prepared each day. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and far beyond what you would normally expect. And the mint tea? Simply outstanding. We found ourselves looking forward to it every day.
The rooftop pool area was another highlight. With just three sun loungers, it felt like our own private oasis above the bustling streets of Marrakech. It was the perfect place to unwind after exploring the city.
What truly sets this riad apart, however, is Aziz. Nothing was too much trouble. He organised our airport transfers seamlessly and, on our departure day, personally walked us through the maze of the souks to our taxi to ensure we arrived safely. That level of care, kindness, and personal service is incredibly rare.
If you are looking for authentic Moroccan hospitality, comfort, tranquillity, and genuinely wonderful hosts, look no further than Riad Dalla Santa.
Thank you, Aziz and your amazing team, for making our stay so memorable. We will absolutely be back.

Outstanding Riad in a perfect location, with fantastic staff

We have been staying in Riad Dalla Santa for a week now, returning home tomorrow.
The location is perfect for exploring the Medina being located a few hundred metres inside the northern edge, meaning if you do want get a taxi or transfer it’s perfectly placed, likewise being inside the Medina you are immediately walking among the Souks.
Within close walking distance there are many restaurants and other eating establishments, coffee shops etc, some of which do serve alcohol but be aware that most do not.
The Riad is very tranquil despite being in the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. You arrive via a passage way which had us a little worried for a moment until you open the door into an amazing courtyard, with rooms leading off into the building. The central courtyard area includes a small plunge pool, a dining area and seating. A small reception area is also located in the courtyard. There is a further two floors with more rooms and on the rooftop a sunbathing area and another small pool.
Our room was spotlessly clean, a good size with good sized bathroom (walk in shower). The water was constantly hot whenever we showered and the shower gel and shampoo was topped up every day. Air conditioning if you needed it.
Housekeeping services were very good and efficient.
The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and always helpful. Breakfast was consistently good.
The staff explained to me on arrival that in a Riad noise can travel so they asked guests to respect others and keep the noise down in an evening and early in the morning and the vast majority of guests did just that.
I don’t think there was anything we did not like about the place, although the initial entry passage had us wondering for a moment especially as we arrived in the early morning and everywhere is closed making it look so different than later in the day and during the evening!
Would we come again? Certainly if we were coming to the Medina, it’s perfect.
A huge thank you to all the excellent staff. Who were always friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble they took time to explain about local attractions, organise our airport transfers etc.
We also found the staff rapidly respond to questions we asked after booking and before arrival which was very reassuring.
Thoroughly recommend staying here.

Perfect balance of service, quality and location

The most excellent service at Della Santa.
Stayed here a few days ago when we (2 couples) were keen to experience Marrakesh up close.
The final approach to the Riad was cause for a moment of concern ( and you will appreciate that if you are fortunate enough to stay) but once through a short entrance area you’ll find beautiful, restored splendour.
What is better still is the welcome and hospitality you will enjoy.
I’ve no hesitation in recommending and would choose it again should we be ‘in town’.
