Really good air conditioning. Helpful staff. Secure place you can leave your luggage of day of departure. Small breakfast. Clean. Scary stairs but elevator works. Really close to train station.

Good location. Helpful staff and decent breakfast.
We had a basement room (booked for 3 people) and the room was very moist. Getting to our next stop we had to hang out our clothes to dry.

Room not particularly clean and small. We booked the larger family room but the mini-fridge in that room was broken. We needed cool drinks. Told no price difference for the smaller room.

Great Boutique Hotel

Now everyone needs to keep in mind this is not a 5-star hotel. We were simply looking to stay in the center of things. We started our trip at the Meininger Hostel, which was decent, but very far out and honestly didn’t feel very European at all.
After our Bike & Barge tour with Cycle Tours (which was fabulous), we stayed here instead. The front desk person was a bit curt, but still polite. It was a little odd having to walk up stairs just to get to the elevator, but we rolled with it.
The rooms were adequate — we were really only there to sleep and shower. The location and walkability were excellent, and there was a grocery store just a few doors down. The room and bathroom were clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was absolutely no sign of bugs. Trust me, bugs love me, so I would have noticed!
Breakfast was decent as well, especially for an included breakfast at a 3-star hotel. If you want luxury, you need to pay for it. They had fresh croissants, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, and enough variety that you definitely didn’t leave hungry.
Honestly, I wish we had stayed here instead of the Meininger from the start. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, well-located, affordable place to stay.
