Wonderful experience

I stayed here for one night while attending Marit Larsen’s show on April 25, 2026, and I had a wonderful experience.
The room was comfortable, and the service was excellent throughout my stay. After checking out the next day, I asked the reception if I could spend a few hours in the common area while waiting for my bus. Instead, the receptionist checked the room availability and kindly offered to let me stay in my room until my bus departure at 5 PM. I was truly touched by this gesture. He also offered to prepare a tasting drink for me, which was both beautiful and refreshing. It’s such a thoughtful surprise.
Thank you so much for your kindness and exceptional service. If you’re visiting Ål, I recommend staying at Thon Hotel Hallingdal.

Disappointing experience and not in line with expectations.

We were guests, with a tour, at this property on 08/17/2026. The variety of the buffet, both at dinner and at lunch, was very limited with very few options. No fruit at dinner. The dining room staff appeared distracted and poorly coordinated in fulfilling our requests to replenish some dishes that had run out. We encountered hurried and unwelcoming manners. N

Very good!

Large, cozy room with refrigerator,
kettle, coffee and tea - absolutely perfect! Incredibly good space in the rooms, very good!
Breakfast was good, not exuberant, but still good selection. Large, well-equipped gym on the lower floor.
Really a pleasant and good stay! Recommended! The hotel looks something worn out on the outside and could need some paint

Cosy hotel

Very cozy hotel, with great breakfast buffet and thingsable possibilities for parking. The hotel has a quiet and very cosy atmosphere, but is a bit worn and old. The rooms were clean and the beds were good!

A slightly worn and boring hotel with very good location

A slightly worn hotel, completely without soul. The room was not especially cozy, the bathroom was small and worn, and the TV did not work. The dinner was a buffet with a watered soup, chicken thighs and rice. It was so little tempting that I chose to eat somewhere else. Ål is the home of Thon, therefore expected a more pleasant hotel. But the location was very good!! Lå very centrally
