The good things remain.

We have returned after a long break and everything has been wonderful, just like on previous occasions. Everything is tranquility and relaxation. We finally did the Cejo de los Enamorados route: very beautiful. Restaurant, cafeteria, and breakfasts, as always, top-notch. We were able to enjoy the company of a good friend whom we hadn't seen in a long time: a long and pleasant chat; a great guy. We will return as soon as we can.

Large, modern, and impersonal

This Parador was a one night stop between the Parador de Cazorla to the Parador de Mojácar. We had previously visited the castle in 2014, but didn’t stayed at the Parador on that trip.
Up by the castle, this Parador is large with a modern interior. It lacks the charm, personality, uniqueness, and intimacy one gets when visiting many other Paradors. It’s more of a business hotel suited for conferences and events. Check in was easy. While there seems to be plenty of parking, much of it covered, when there are events occurring it probably fills up quickly. There are EV charging points.
One is afforded outstanding views of the surrounding area from it, but if wanting to go into the city it takes about 15 minutes even though the town isn’t that far away.
Our room overlooked the town and was larger than at most Paradors we’ve stayed at. It was clean, well presented, and comfortable. Neither complimentary water nor a pot for boiling water was provided like in some Paradors. The toilet is somewhat separated from the sink, but the glass door is awkward, whether opening inwards or outwards.
From the covered parking spaces there is an entrance to the hotel. Unfortunately, there’s no ramp to wheel suitcases into it. It’s all stairs. The staff, while friendly, were more business like and less personable.
Finally, getting to the 3rd floor cafeteria requires one to pass through the restaurant and that could be irritating for those trying to have a nice dinner.

Really nice location and view. Excellent breakfast.
The rooms were nice and clean and all the needed amenities present.
You need a car to get to and from the town. Else recommendable for everyone.

excellent

Paradores, priceless, always a safe bet, comfortable and spacious rooms, complete bathroom with a large bathtub, side table with two armchairs, desk table, ... details that you won't find in other hotels. The food was exquisite, and the waiter was friendly, attentive, and advised us at all times.. this is the second time we have come, but we will return

07/04/2026 – Despite 3 rooms, not served.

Stay on 07/04/2026 – Booking under the name Ziltener.
I travel a lot and regularly stay in good hotels. However, I have never experienced such a disrespectful and unprofessional treatment.
We had booked three rooms at the Parador de Lorca and were there with family and friends to celebrate my uncle's birthday, who is in a wheelchair. What was supposed to be a lovely evening ended in a complete fiasco.
Around 9:40 PM, my father wanted to reserve a table in the restaurant. He was not even properly greeted. Instead of a polite explanation, it was simply said: "Come back at 10:00 PM."
When we returned at 10:00 PM, I directly ordered a gin and tonic from the waiter. After about 20 minutes, I personally went to the same waiter again and kindly reminded him of my order. He confirmed this, yet nothing continued to happen. When I inquired again at the table after more than 40 minutes, I still had not received my drink. I never received the gin and tonic until the end. For a 4-star hotel, this is simply embarrassing.
Meanwhile, we were informed that we would not be getting a table. My father expressed his anger about it. Consequently, the deputy restaurant manager decided on the spot not to serve us at all anymore. Not just my father – but our entire group. Neither drinks nor food. As paying hotel guests, we were simply left standing.
I calmly sought a conversation and explained that we were different guests and that one could not simply refuse service to an entire group. I also explained that we wanted to celebrate my uncle's birthday, who is in a wheelchair. Nevertheless, the initial response remained: "No, there is nothing."
Only after I had explained the situation in detail again did it suddenly become clear that everyone could eat – except for my father. Such an arbitrary decision is absolutely unacceptable and has nothing to do with professional hospitality.
The result: We had to order food through Uber Eats on my uncle's birthday, even though we were guests at the Parador de Lorca and wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant. That a guest in a wheelchair has to spend his birthday this way because a single employee is not willing to resolve a situation professionally is shameful.
The next day, the hotel director personally sought a conversation with us and apologized. As compensation, we were offered the minibar. This does show that the hotel management has recognized that a serious mistake has occurred – however, it does not undo the ruined evening.
The real problem is that a single employee apparently had the power to refuse service to an entire group of hotel guests without involving a supervisor or seeking a reasonable solution. Instead of de-escalating the situation, it was deliberately escalated.
A birthday was ruined, hotel guests were not served despite three booked rooms, a wheelchair user had to order his birthday meal through a delivery service, and I waited over 40 minutes for a gin and tonic that I never received.
From a hotel like the Parador de Lorca, I expect hospitality, professionalism, and respect for all guests. Unfortunately, we experienced exactly the opposite.
Particularly shocking was the behavior of the deputy restaurant manager. Instead of taking responsibility and resolving a conflict, it seemed more important to him to demonstrate his power. His demeanor struck me as ego-driven, condescending, and completely incompatible with the hospitality one should expect from a place like the Parador de Lorca.
I can definitely not recommend the Parador de Lorca based on this experience and hope that the hotel management seriously reviews the internal processes and especially the behavior of the responsible restaurant staff so that other guests do not have to endure the same experience.

Sehr geehrte Leonardo Z
