Unique hospitality

We were lucky enough to have the top room with roof terrace. Beautifully decorated and fully equipped. The homely atmosphere and hospitality are unique: our breakfast and dinner were served on the roof terrace. We felt very welcome and we enjoyed the contact with the owners.

Special stay- quirky and amazing food and host

A truly special stay – Villa 49, Kandy
Villa 49 is a lovely boutique hotel tucked away on the outskirts of Kandy, offering a peaceful escape from the busy city while still being close enough to explore.
This is not a polished, corporate hotel, and that is exactly its charm. It feels special, full of character, and genuinely welcoming from the moment you arrive.
We stayed in a top-floor room and it was exceptional. The space was huge, with beautiful vaulted ceilings and quirky, thoughtfully chosen furnishings that gave it real personality. The terrace was a highlight, complete with table, chairs, and sun loungers, making it the perfect place to unwind and watch the sunset. The bed was very comfortable, which made it easy to fully relax.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the team went out of their way to make it special, decorating the room with balloons and flowers. A genuinely thoughtful touch.
The food here was some of the best we’ve had. Breakfast in the garden was a real experience. Freshly prepared egg and string hoppers, fruit, bread, fresh juices, tea and coffee, all shared with stories and warmth. It felt personal and generous.
Dinner was a traditional curry and rice, full of flavour and clearly made with care. It was served in a beautifully decorated dining room that felt more like being welcomed into someone’s home than eating in a hotel. Every detail, from the furniture to the artwork, felt curated and intentional.
The manager was warm, engaging, and clearly passionate about the place. We spent time chatting, sharing recipes, and it added a real human touch to the whole experience.
With only eight rooms, the hotel feels intimate and private. Even with other guests staying, we rarely saw anyone beyond passing, which added to the calm.
We were genuinely sorry to leave and would have happily stayed longer. A special place that welcomes you in and stays with you.

Very Comfortable guest house

Beautiful house, managed by a kind, caring lady. Everyone we meet was so friendly. All the food is loving homemade and delicious. We had an evening meal of different curries and rice and the breakfast was plentiful. My favourites were the breadfruit curry and fresh mango chutney in the evening and the Sri Lankan ‘hoppers’ for breakfast. The reading light in our room did not work and the curtains were not blackout. The beds were comfortable but the pillows could do with an upgrade. Very convenient location. The botanical gardens were magnificent. Enjoy.

Very good

First stop of our family trip, and we really liked it.
The people were charming, the evening meal and breakfast were top-notch.
The hot shower and the spacious room with AC and fan to choose from or both at the same time if you are really too hot.
Thank you for the welcome, looking forward to seeing you again.

Unique hospitality

A beautiful boutique hotel in colonial style. Big rooms and the top room has a roof terrace with an amazing view. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming with a great sense of humour. Breakfast and dinner can be served in the room on request.
Thank you so much, Casper and Maartje ❤️
