This Queensland town is known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. It's full of backpackers, hostels, and boat-filled docks. So much excitement about the trips people are taking or have just returned from give Airlie Beach a non-stop party atmosphere.

A small but vibrant little town, Airlie Beach is also the launching pad for the gorgeous Whitsunday Islands. The hostels are mostly party-oriented, and everything along the main drag is either a bar, pub, or souvenir shop. Still, it's a great place to hang your hat on a stopover for an islands or Reef trip, and you'll have plenty do to in the evening.
