Founded in 1785 by the Brits, Sydney is a community and a now-defunct city in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is situated on the east coast of Cape Breton Island. Now the settlement has been merged with Nova Scotia, and the capital moved to Halifax. A quiet town by global standards, it is supported by a small industry mostly comprising customer service call centres and tourism companies. The town is also the main port on Cape Breton Island and serves as a connecting point to nearby places such as North Sydney and Glace Bay. Despite not being a touristy town, it has a few attractions to offer, most notably remnants of its coal mines which dotted the area in the yesteryears. The town is served by the Sydney Airport (IATA: YQY), which offers flights to multiple destinations via Air Canada and Westjet.
The town can be reached by road through the Canso Causeway that connects Cape Breton Island to the Nova Scotia mainland near Port Hawkesbury. There onward, you can take Highways 105 and 125 (via Baddeck and North Sydney) or Route 4.
