Bergamo Alta is a fascinating part of the city which was at the best of its flourishing around medieval times. In the center of the Città Alta there is Piazza Vecchia, which was remodeled during the Renaissance and is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy. Bergamo Bassa - the lower town - is the newest and elegant part, full of shops, bars and restaurants. A delightful funicular takes you to the Città Alta from the Città Bassa, departing from Via Al Castello 3 in Città Bassa, not far from the parking lot in Piazza della Libertà. Bergamo is a lovely small city, perfect for a one-day trip from Poggio Verde. The city is divided in Città Alta - the oldest part built by the Romans - and the Città Bassa.

If you happen to be in Lombard, the close-by town of Bergamo will turn out to be a very pleasant surprise for you. I chose it as my base on a business trip to Milan last month, based on the fact that hotel rates are cheaper in that area. To my nice surprise, it turned out that coffee, food etc were cheaper as well.

Noble Palaces Tour Discover the most beautiful historical noble dwellings in the Upper-town dated back to seventeen and eighteen century. Enter the private and intimate spaces of the Counts Moroni Family and Marchesi Terzi Family. Live the charming atmosphere of a Barocco and Rococo style building where everything is still perfectly conserved as it was in the past. Both the aristocratic dwellings reflect the comfort, the social status-symbol, and the absolute refined and educated taste of these aristocratic families, their great competence in selecting precious and high quality works of art.
