What is the best time to visit Italy?

Italy is popular with visitors all year round, but it gets most crowded in the summer (mid-June to the end of August) and over Christmas. Easter is also busy in Rome.

You can avoid the crowds and get a better chance of deals by visiting in the shoulder seasons, but be aware that many attractions run on shorter winter hours from October to April.
