Formerly established as a military airfield for German's air force in 1939, Cologne Bonn Airport has since become one of the few 24-hour civilian airports in Germany today. The airport has two thoroughly equipped terminals: Terminals 1 and 2, with Terminal 1 serving Austrian Airlines, Germanwings and Lufthansa. Other airlines such as Air Berlin and Ryanair are served by Terminal 2.
Cologne is Germany's 4th largest city, divided into nine districts. It is located on both sides of Rhine river, with its cityscape dominated by modern post-war buildings and attractions like Cologne Cathedral, Cologne Ring boulevards and Cologne City Hall.
The fastest way to get to the airport is through bus and rail services. You can take the S-Bahn (suburban railway) No. 7 to Porz Markt from Cologne and Bus No. 161 from there to the airport's bus terminal.
