Auckland Airport

Auckland International airport is open 24 hours a day year-round and is a 15 minute walk from the domestic terminal. It has one terminal for all its international flights with a good range of eating choices, family friendly facilities, nearby hotels and services.

The airport is considered safe and well appointed with regular bus services from downtown Auckland every 10 minutes from 7am to 7pm and approximately every half an hour outside of those times. There is also a selection of set price shuttles and metered taxis which can vary in price.

Travel from downtown Auckland takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour. There is no train service.

Information on flying into Lima:

Jorge Chávez International Airport is Peru’s main airport and is 10km from downtown Lima. The airport is open 24 hours a day with café’s and services available however travellers may be subject to restrictions from airport security if attempting to stay overnight in the terminal.

There is a choice of airport shuttles, private luxury cars and taxi services from the airport to Lima.  Lima hotels and rental cars can be organised upon arrival at the airport, however it is recommended to book in advance to secure the accommodation or vehicle of your choice.

●     Time and climate difference between Auckland and Lima – Auckland is 18 hours ahead of Lima.  Expect Lima to be on average 4°C warmer than Auckland with substantially less rain, but also less sunshine. In summer temperatures can reach highs of 29°C and lows of 14 °C in winter.

●     Travel requirements – Travellers need a current passport and appropriate visa organised prior to travel.  It is advised to check in three hours before takeoff and to check with your carrier prior to travelling.

●     Cost of living difference between Auckland and Lima – Consumer prices are substantially lower in Lima compared to Auckland with restaurant prices up to 70% cheaper.  A 0.5 litre draught beer will cost just over $2 in Lima compared to $8 in Auckland.
