Book Flights to Somalia

Somalia, officially the Federal Republic of Somalia, is a country located on the East “Horn of Africa”, a protruding country surrounded by the Indian Ocean, sharing borders with Ethiopia and Kenya. The country has various terrains in the country, some areas having plateaus, some plains, while still others are highlands. Hot conditions prevail all year round, with periodic monsoon winds and irregular rainfall. Its capital is the coastal city of Mogadishu.

As far as travel and tourism is concerned, Somalia's natural beauty and rich coasts provide competition to the more known beach vacation sites such as the Cote d'Azur, Miami, and certain cities in Australia. The God-given beauty to its white and red sand beaches is spectacular, with aquamarine to turquoise waters slapping the shores in waves. What is more is that these places are remote – untarnished, virgin, and pure – with nothing more than a few settlements. Within the city, the establishments may be dowdy and overcrowded with Somalis, but the simple smile from a local to a total stranger will tell tourists that the country without a formal government for 20 years has not lost hope that someday everything will be back to the beauty that was once it was.

If, in a happy coincidence you end up to going to Somalia, the current 'safe lands' are located in Somaliland, where animals and humans co-inhibit the lands that are equally beautiful and unexploited. Upon arrival in the area, you will be escorted by armed men to your hotels or safe houses where you will stay, and will be guarded once you decide on going around in the destinations and city centres.

How to get around within Somalia

Having no government for almost 20 years, the Somalis have not established public transport modes or established private transportation sectors (car dealers, etc). The people here usually go around old-style, animal-drawn wooden carts transferring goods in and around the city. Private cars are rare here, and only those who have the money can ride around in vehicles.

How to get there

There are various airports in Somalia, although most of the airlines previously operating in the country have ceased operations due to the strained warring situation in the area.
