Finding flights from London Heathrow (LHR)
London Heathrow Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, offering plentiful flights across the UK, throughout Europe and all over the world.
If you're not sure where you want to fly, use Skyscanner's search panel and put 'everywhere' in the 'to' field. You'll be shown a list of possible destinations (only those with direct flights by default) and you can scroll down until you find somewhere that tickles your fancy.
Once you've picked your destination airport, there's another trick to find the cheapest airfare. Rather than limiting your search to one day, click on the departure date and change it from 'Specific date' to 'Whole month.' From there, you can either pick a month of your choosing or click 'Cheapest month' and let us do the hard work for you.
London Heathrow Airport
Heathrow is one of London's six airports, but by far the biggest and busiest. In fact, it's the busiest airport in all of Europe.
The airport has four terminals, numbered 2, 3, 4 and 5, which are used by different alliances. You'll find Star Alliance flights in Terminal 2, Sky Team flights in Terminal 4, and Oneworld flights spread between Terminals 3 and 5.
Heathrow is 12km to the west of central London, and there are plenty of different ways to make this journey. Starting at Kings Cross St Pancras, the Piccadilly Line of the Underground goes out to Heathrow. If you prefer to take a bus, the Heathrow Express and National Express are also available.
Popular destinations from London Heathrow
There are a number of capital cities within easy reach of London Heathrow, and Edinburgh is one of the most captivating. The historic city centre comes alive in August with the Edinburgh Festival, while Hogmanay is celebrated with a huge street party on 31 December.
With so much of Europe being less than three hours away, you're spoiled for choice with places to go. Rome is just two and a half hours away, and is the perfect destination for couples looking for a romantic getaway or for foodies eager to try some of the world's most popular cuisine in its birthplace.
The most popular route from Heathrow connects London with one of the few cities that can compete with it as a true world centre: New York City. Such is the popularity of this route that eight airlines compete to offer the lowest fare. New York, and Manhattan in particular, is one of the world's most loved places, and with Broadway, Central Park and Times Square to get you started, there's plenty to see and do in NYC.
