Flights from Chad

The Republic of Chad, commonly referred to as simply Chad, is a country in north central Africa, and one of the world's 44 landlocked countries. It is surrounded by land on all sides, specifically by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Nigeria and Cameroon to the southwest, and Niger to the west. In terms of area, Chad is the fifth largest country in Africa and the 21st largest country in the world. The country's capital and largest city is N'Djaména, which is about 1,060km away from the nearest seaport. It is precisely because of this distance from the sea and its desert climate that people sometimes refer to Chad as the Dead Heart of Africa.

Where to go

Zakouma National Park - Chad's first national park is situated south of the country, between Sarh and Am Timan. The park occupies an area of nearly 3,000km2 and is surrounded entirely by the Bahr Salamat Faunal Reserve. At least 44 species of large mammals and numerous bird species are residents of the Zakouma National Park.

Ennedi Plateau - Otherwise known as the Ennedi desert, the plateau is located in one of the most inaccessible region of Chad, in the middle of the Sahara in the north-eastern area of the country. Spectacular sights await those who choose to forge through; the area is filled with compelling sandstone formations and other geological attractions. One of the most notable of the hundreds of natural arches in the plateau is the Aloba arch, reaching a height of nearly 120 metres.

Chad National Museum (Musée National N'Djamena) - The national museum of Chad can be found in N'Djaména, near Avenue Felix Eboue. There are four main exhibitions: prehistory, protohistory, archies, and folk arts, crafts, and traditions. It also has an interesting collection of musical instruments.
