Flights from India

India is a vast country with some of the world's most densely populated cities. As well as the delights of bustling New Delhi and Mumbai, India has plenty to see in its smaller cities too.

Because of its location in Asia, India's airports link it to much of the world with short- and medium-haul flights.

Where to go in India

Goa

Goa is famed for its beaches – some of the best in India – but there's a lot more to the coastal town than just its sandy shore. Those who enjoy fish will love Goan cuisine, which often mixes seafood with coconut. Its seaside position saw Goa used by Portuguese traders, who left their mark with beautiful architecture, making an evening stroll beneficial for your photo album.

Agra

Agra is home to the Taj Mahal, arguably India's most famous landmark. The building, designed as a token of love, is one of many beautiful buildings in the area, with the 'Baby Taj', Jama Mosque and Agra Fort all worth a visit too.

Kolkata

Kolkata – also known as Calcutta – is found in West Bengal, in the northwest of the country near the border with Bangladesh. The city is famed for its colonial architecture, with the Victoria Memorial and the Indian Museum both providing excellent examples. Kolkata is also home to Eden Gardens, the second largest cricket ground in the world (behind the MCG).

Where to go after India

Colombo

Sri Lanka and India are similar in many respects, especially their food, although you may find Sri Lanka to be a little more laid back and relaxed in comparison. Shoppers can go to Galle Face Green to browse local markets or head to the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct for higher end stores.

Tel Aviv

From Mumbai it's just a six-hour flight to Israel. Tel Aviv is a vibrant city, with a pumping night life and beach culture, and it's just a short drive from the historic city of Jerusalem. Be sure to check out the shopping on Dizengoff Street, learn about the country's history in Ben-Gurion House and walk the cobbled streets of Jaffa.

Beijing

India is the world's second most populous country behind China, so you may see visiting India as a warm up before heading east. The capital, which has a population of more than 11 million, is a great spot to get to the Great Wall of China, as well as giving you the chance to explore the Forbidden City and seeing Tiananmen Square.
