Ryanair flights & airline information

Flying with Ryanair

Ryanair is Europe's largest airline by passenger numbers and the 5th largest in the world, carrying 112 million passengers in 2016. The Irish low-cost carrier was founded in 1984 and has its main hubs at London Stansted and Dublin Airport.

With a fleet of 420 aircraft, Ryanair flies to 205 destinations all over Europe as well as to North Africa and the Middle East.

Why fly with Ryanair?

There's a simple reason behind Ryanair's success: price. The no-frills airline can't compete when it comes to comfort or in-flight services, but it consistently offers the cheapest flights to many destinations across Europe. If you're flying from Ireland or the United Kingdom, it can sometimes be the only option for getting where you want to go.

Why fly with Ryanair

Ryanair check in

You can check in using the Ryanair mobile app, through the website or at the airport. Be aware that checking in at the airport involves a €55/£55 fee, while online and mobile check-in are free.

Mobile and online check-in are available from 4 days to 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. If you've paid to choose a seat, you can check in up to 30 days before.

Ryanair baggage allowance and fees

You can take 1 carry-on bag aboard the plane (measuring up to 55cm x 40cm x 20cm and weighing up to 10kg), plus 1 small item such as a handbag or laptop bag (up to 35cm x 20cm x 20cm).

Ryanair fares do not include a free checked baggage allowance. You can purchase up to 3 checked bags when you book your flight or by managing your booking, though the latter costs more. Prices start from €25/£25 per bag if you pay at the time of your booking or €40/£40 if you pay later. Each item must weigh no more than 20kg.

Excess baggage is charged at €10/£10 per kg. If you need to declare valuable baggage, this incurs a fee of €50/£50.

Ryanair seat selection

Seat selection costs extra on Ryanair flights. You can choose your preferred seat when you make your booking or up to 2 hours before take-off.

Seat classes include standard seats (from €4/£4), front seats (from €13.01/£13.01) and extra leg room seats (from €15/£15).
