The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, commonly referred to as Saudi Arabia, is the second largest state in the Arab world and the largest Arab state in Western Asia. Saudi Arabia is surrounded by Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Yemen. It is also the only nation with coasts on both the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabia is one of the most difficult nations to visit due to their restrictive travel policies. Advance visas are required and hard to obtain, and anyone who is a citizen of Israel or have stamps and/or visas from Israel will immediately be denied entry. Visas are also normally not granted to unaccompanied women, with only very few exceptions.
Where to go
Al-Shallal Theme Park - The Al-Shallal Theme Park, also called the Fakieh Poultry Farms, contains the largest double-looped roller coaster in Asia. It also has an ice skating rink and the Amazon Ride, an Amazon jungle-themed area with life-sized figures of animals complete with lights and sound effects and a lagoon with a 15-metre high waterfall. The park also has an arcade and numerous party rooms that the public can reserve for special events. Additionally, there is also a European village theme area and a Far East village area, both of which provide world class restaurants for the visitors.
National Museum of Saudi Arabia - The National Museum of Saudi Arabia is part of the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre in the city of Riyadh. As a major national museum of Saudi Arabia, it houses important exhibits that are categorised into eight Exhibition Halls: Man and the Universe, Arabian Kingdoms, the Pre-Islamic Area, the Prophet's Mission, Islam and the Arabian Peninsula, First and Second Saudi States, the Unification, and the Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques.
Scuba Diving in the Red Sea coast - While this is a popular activity in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast and there are several dive operators in Jeddah, travellers are warned to be extremely cautious during these dives. Few hospitals are equipped to handle scuba diving-related injuries, and more importantly, hospitals are not accessible to foreigners even during emergency situations. The Red Sea is beautiful, but contains many poisonous fish and corals. Familiarising oneself in the marine life found in the Red Sea is strongly advised.
From Saudi Arabia, travellers can visit the fifth-largest city in Germany, Frankfurt am Main, where tourists can check out the German Architecture Museum, the historic Old Jewish Cemetery, and the Naturmuseum Senckenberg. Also only a few hours away is Istanbul, Turkey, where visitors can enjoy the shopping opportunities at the massive Grand Bazaar, plus other attractions such as the Istanbul Archaeology Museums and the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum.
It's a ten-hour flight from Saudi Arabia to the Philippines, home of Manila Ocean Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Museo Pambata, and Manila Metropolitan Theatre.
How to get out
The best way to get out of Saudi Arabia is through the King Fahd International Airport, the world's largest airport in terms of land area. The airport is located 20km northwest of the city of Dammam. It is served by many airlines, including Cebu Pacific, EgyptAir, Pakistan International Airlines, Saudia, and Felix Airways to offer scheduled passenger service to Manila, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Kuwait, and a few other international and domestic destinations. Those who are in Saudi Arabia with a work or student visa are required to have exit visas before they are allowed to leave the country.
