Departing from Auckland

Auckland Airport (AKL) is New Zealand's largest airport and has 2 terminals. Flights to Kathmandu depart from the International Terminal, which has duty-free shops, restaurants and bars, VIP lounges and other facilities to keep travellers occupied while waiting for their flights.

The airport is just 6km from the centre of Kathmandu, and many hotels will offer a pick-up service if you book in advance. Taxis cost Rs 800 pre-paid, but can be haggled cheaper. If you prefer to catch a public bus (Rs 10), you'll have to walk around 500m from the airport. You can also hire a car.
