Singapore is the jewel of Southeast Asia, giving New Zealand travellers a great taste of a foreign land but with many of the comforts of home. Air conditioned shopping malls and a highly efficient public transport system mix nicely with hawker food stalls and a tropical climate.
The country is also a hub for Singapore Airlines, which makes it a great travel link for many countries in Asia and farther afield.

Located on the water, Marina Bay has a nice mix of attractions for visitors. As well as the famous Merlion Statue, the area is home to the futuristic Gardens by the Bay, the cutting edge ArtScience Museum and, from 8pm every day, an award-winning laser and water jet show.
There are plenty of places to go shopping in Singapore, but for high-end retail stores you'll want to head to Orchard Road. To the eastern end of Orchard Road, retail gives way to culture, with a smattering of colonial buildings and museums.
Sentosa, to the south of downtown Singapore, is a popular family attraction. This is where you can find the Universal Studios theme park, Tiger Sky Tower and Underwater World, as well as many hotels catered to entertaining visitors of all ages.
